Cold Weather, Meet Warm Marigold Sweater

Sweater: BooHoo (similar here, here, & here all under $25!); Pants: BDG via Urban Outfitters; Booties: Kenneth Cole via TJ Maxx; Rings: Forever 21

IMG_0493img_0616.jpgIMG_0580IMG_0480 - Version 2img_0508.jpgThere are certain items in my closet that I never mind splurging on, but sweaters are definitely not in that category. I am a firm believer in the “cost per wear” mentality, where you divide the cost of the item by the number of times you will wear it in order to see if it’s worth the investment.

I never regret buying a designer bag or pair of shoes because I can use them on repeat and the quality holds up longer, but living in Southern California, I just don’t find it necessary to splurge on a sweater that I’ll hardly get to wear. I did want to find some fun new pieces to get me through the few cold days we get here, and I scored at BooHoo. This marigold color is so on trend for winter, but it still feels warm and bright to bring some color to those cold days.

People tend to gravitate towards darker colors when it’s cold out, but I think that is when we need color the most! So don’t shy away from the unexpected, and don’t be afraid to pop some color into your winter wardrobe.IMG_0544IMG_0575 - Version 2 I linked some similar sweaters from BooHoo in the caption above because this exact one is sold out, but definitely shop around for some other fun colors, too. This marigold color is warm and bright, but also styles well under a leather jacket to bring a little more edge to the look. I love it paired with my black booties from TJMaxx. They have cute star details all over, but they are still plain enough (and comfy!) to where I can use them everyday. I did some close up photos so you can hopefully get a glimpse of the stars. They are very subtle and I think they pair well with the fun marigold pop of color.

How do you brighten up your winter wardrobe?img_0608.jpgimg_0489.jpgThanks for stopping by!

Jump, Jump, Jump(suit) Around

Jumpsuit: Adelyn Rae via Nordstrom Rack (similar here & here); Pumps: Jessica Simpson via Marshalls (similar here); Bracelets: Loft; Earrings: Kate Spade

Hi friends, happy Friday! This is my first post of the new year, so happy New Year! I hope everyone’s been having a great start to 2018.

I have sure been enjoying these past couple weeks. Matt was in town until Monday, so it was great spending some extra time together. We took a trip to the mountains with his family and celebrated his sweet nephew’s 10th birthday. I shared a couple photos on Instagram if you want to see what we were up to! The cold weather was refreshing and it was nice to put my sweaters, scarves, and coats to use. I’ll be sharing a few of those pieces on the blog soon, so stay tuned.

img_0866.jpgToday I’m talking about jumpsuits. I love the simplicity of wearing jumpsuits because it’s an entire outfit in one, like a dress, but with a little more flair. Jumpsuits can easily be dressed up or down, so it helps get extra use out of one item, and we all know I am a huge fan of versatility.

This navy jumpsuit was perfect for Christmas Day. I dressed it up with my pink velvet pumps (featured here), the silver heart bracelet Matt got me, and my pink ball drop Sugarfix earrings. When I’m not looking to dress this piece up, I can highlight the pants by throwing a knit sweater over it to make it more casual, and more winter appropriate. I could also throw a denim jacket over it and wear black booties for another look.

This navy jumpsuit is by Adelyn Rae, a brand I have recently fallen for. I’ve frequently found this brand at Nordstrom Rack for decent prices. I love that this particular style jumpsuit has pockets! Also, the lace detail adds the perfect delicate touch. Have you added any jumpsuits to your closet? They really are simple to wear!IMG_0914IMG_0863IMG_0907img_0855.jpg

Thanks for visiting & have a fun weekend!
Love always, Rae

Splurge Worthy: Designer Bubbly & Bags

Purse: Rebecca Minkoff (brown Avery here); Jacket: Forever21; Dress: Charlotte Russe (old, similar here); Booties: Kenneth Cole via Marshalls (similar here); Rings: Forever21; Champagne: Rebecca Minkoff x Chandon winter collection

IMG_0716img_0706.jpgimg_0804.jpgHello weekend! I always welcome the weekend with open arms, but this one is especially exciting because it’s the last of the year, and I get another three day weekend. There will be no shortage of great style at Sunday’s New Years Eve festivities, so I figure, why not have stylish champagne too?!

There is going to be plenty of champs flowing this weekend, so I picked up a few of these chic bottles from the Rebecca Minkoff x Chandon winter collection. Last year, their collaboration produced a black and a white bottle with teal and gold diamond prints on them. This year, the holiday collection includes gold and rose gold geometric printed bottles. This rose gold Brut is not only a limited edition bottle, but a limited edition flavor as well, and it is superb. I styled this (very trendy) rose gold bottle with two of my very favorite RM bags.IMG_0810For a few years now, I have worn my leopard crossbody anytime I traveled. This little bag is like a magician’s hat; don’t let the size fool you, because while it appears small, it actually holds a lot and zips up to keep it all safe inside. On every trip to see Matt in San Fran, this bag would hold all my necessities: a small wallet, lotion, eyeliner and mascara, lipstick, a portable charger, sunnies, gum, and my phone.

This season, I decided it was time to invest in another color of my beloved bag. I found my new baby, the Avery crossbody, at Nordstrom Rack and have been obsessed with this new neutral ever since. RM bags look great with the festive champagne bottles, and I will definitely be using the bag and the bubbly this weekend!

Do you have a favorite crossbody bag that accompanies you on bubbly brunch dates? Scoop up the new RM bottle and head into the weekend in style!img_0725.jpgimg_0717-e1514560808587.jpgimg_0775-e1514561591278.jpgIMG_0739img_0753.jpg

Fun & Frills for New Year’s Eve

Top: W5 via Marshalls (similar here , also in pink & white); Jeans: BDG via Urban Outfitters; Heels: Jessica Simpson (similar here); Earrings: Sugarfix; Rings: Forever21

Happy Thursday! It’s so close to the end of the year, it’s crazy. This holiday season has flown by, and now the last of the holidays is almost here. Are you doing anything fun to celebrate? Or will you happily be in bed before midnight, waking up to a brand new year?

My boyfriend is in town from San Francisco (hooray!) so we got to celebrate Christmas together and we will be ringing in the new year together too, along with some friends. I’m looking forward to getting dolled up and popping some champagne. While I usually opt for a glittery NYE outfit, I found this fun, feathery top at Marshalls and knew I had to have it. It’s such a unique piece, making it perfect for the special occasion. I paired it with a colorful pair of velvet heels that I also scored at Marshalls. I’ve worn these Jessica Simpson pumps a few times this holiday season, even pairing them with my “ugly” sweater for a Christmas party last week.

Marshalls changes their stock often, so you may not be able to find these identical pieces, but they always have something new and exciting, and these pumps were available in maroon too, so hopefully you can score your own! {I linked the maroon pair in the photo, but I could only find them at Zappos. They’re on sale, but still more than at Marshalls}

If you don’t come across the exact same pieces, take this post as inspiration to think outside the box when updating your wardrobe for the new year. I like clothing that has some unique flair and personality. Feathers to upgrade a black tee? That has my name all over it! Fashion is about being true to yourself and wearing what you feel best in, so don’t be afraid to take risks and wear something extra fun if you feel like it!

Thanks for stopping by!
Love always, Rae

Here, I have listed some good staple items that are sure to please any type of guy.

1// The Harry’s Shaving Set is a great deal at Target for only $15. These razors are comparable to the Dollar Shave Club ones, without the subscription, making them the perfect holiday gift. This set includes the razor, blade cartridge, travel cover, shave gel, and aftershave.

2// The Tie Bar has a sweet little gift set at Nordstrom for $30. This box takes the effort out of finding a matching set, as it includes a tie with a coordinating pocket square.

7// Anyone traveling for the holidays will appreciate having this mini Moscow Mule Cocktail kit in their bag. Kit includes a recipe card, bar spoon, a linen coaster, and ginger syrup for two cocktails. Be sure to provide the mini-bottles when gifting this sweet tin. Available in 3 additional cocktail combos, Anthropologie, $24.

8// Whether traveling or just rocking out in the house, the power of this JBL Flip 4 speaker can’t be beat. Bluetooth, waterproof, and a good size for travel, $100.
More colors available here.

9// A fun little fact about me: I loathe condensation. This Yeti Colster is perfectly acceptable for the man in your life, to keep his soda or beer ice cold and condensation free, but to honest I’m thinking about snagging one for myself. 6 color options, $25.

10// Flannels go with any guy’s style, and they come in so many color combos. I had to put this on the list because I know it’s something my boyfriend would love; he wears flannels every Friday to work, so he can never have too many. Urban Outfitters, $50.

11// For the whiskey drinker, get him something to keep his drink cool without watering it down. From the trusty Corkcicle brand, this whiskey wedge set includes the glass and silicone ice mold. Bed Bath & Beyond, $18.
